Is It Possible to Get a Good Deal at a Buy Here Pay Here Car Lot?

The last time I ever dealt with a buy here pay here type of place was back in 1982. I didn’t have any credit and couldn’t get a co-signer – my parents had bad credit and it just wasn’t working out. We tried the local bank and the credit union in Orlando that we normally bank with. Both of them told us that I would have to have some type of credit established before I could get a car loan.

Ended up paying about 2 thousand dollars more for a car than I would have if I had good credit.

I’m just wondering if buy here pay here car lots are still the same? I’ve found a good article here that I think might answer my question!
