What legal structure should I use for my home business?

By admin | October 7, 2009

I’ve been looking into various legal structures for my home business and I’m torn between an S-Corp and an LLC.

An LLC seems a lot simpler, but I like the idea of being able to convert my home business legal entity from an S-Corp to a C-Corp at some point as there seems to be potential tax benefits for doing so.

I understand that maintaining the S-Corp can be more complicated, but I’m wondering what advantages there are to an LLC over an S-Corp in the short-term and if those outweigh the potential benefits of being able to convert to a C-Corp later on.
