Are there cures for shingles?

Are there cures for shingles, or are there only treatments that will ease the pain of shingles? My grandfather used to get shingles, and my father has had them once as well. I have never had them, but I did have the chicken pox when I was younger. Therefore, the virus is in my system. Later in life, there is a chance that I could suffer from shingles. Stress could bring on an outbreak. The virus could surface and cause problems for me. I know they are painful, so I wonder if there is a way to cure the condition rather than simply treat it.
