Omega 3 Fatty Acid Article Typo?

By admin | February 28, 2008

We can get omega 3 fatty acids from some vegetarian sources – such as algae, and even flax seeds. But most of the omega 3 fatty acids we consume comes from marine life. The problem with getting omega 3 from flax seeds, is that they also contain omega 6 fatty acids, and we tend to get too much of these in our diet anyway. At least with marine sourced omega 3 fatty acids, you’re getting pure omega 3 only.

That’s why I was surprised to read in these omega 3 fatty acid articles a reference to omega 3 seed oil. I mean, it must be flax. That’s not so bad, except for one, which mentioned getting too much omega 3 seed oil. Actually, in terms of omega 3 fatty acids, we don’t get enough. And most people don’t take flax oil unless they’re supplementing with it for something. So, that would be talking about a definite minority. Most people get omega 3 supplements from marine sources.
