Diamonds

By admin | March 7, 2009

The word diamond is derived from the Greek word Adamas. Translated into English, this means indestructible. Diamonds have been prized and famed throughout history for their brilliance and purity.

Diamonds were initially found in India, but there have been discoveries all over the world. Many recent one have been in Africa, and has been the subject of internal and external wars over the rights of ownership.

From the middle ages onwards, the Royal Houses of Europe and the Rich collected diamonds  to be worn as an adornment, as wedding and betrothal gifts, and also as an investment.
