Named as Personal Representative…. know what involved before you start

It may seem like a great compliment to be named as the personal representative for a family member or friend but for me it was a total nightmare. Being a personal representative involves a tremendous amount of work. It was like having a second job. A job that is a painful reminder of the loss of a loved one. If I had to do it all over again, I would delegate as many of the personal representative duties to an attorney. Attorneys are the only ones that truly know every aspects of being a personal representative . It took me over 3 years to settle the estate of my Uncle and frankly, all of the pressure of being a personal representative took years off my life. Going through the probate process? Get an attorney and relax.
