The Carlsbad Caverns Are An Amazing Hiking Experience
By admin | July 5, 2008
Located in New Mexico, the Carlsbad Caverns are one of Mother Nature’s true miracles and are a must for any hiker. So, slip into your favorite pair of Asolo hiking boots and let’s take the tour.
The caverns are simply vast and will take many days to explore thoroughly, but for many visitors the tour starts by descending some 900 feet into the Big Room where you can gaze up at this magnificent 25 story space and visit the Temple of the Sun with its many eerily lit pools. You can also make your way through the Lechuguilla Cave which is the deepest anywhere in the United States and winds for miles through the Guadalupe Mountains. With hundreds of caverns to explore the caves suit visitors of all ages and abilities and provide everything from easy walking to scaling 10 foot walls and scrabbling through narrow openings. And do not miss the Bat Cave which, between April and September houses hundreds of thousands of Mexican free tailed bats.
